The Seattle Mariners have decided to stay with their known present over their tempting future at catcher. Kenji Johjima and the Mariners agreed Friday to a $24 million, three-year contract extension through 2011. The recently struggling catcher, who turns 32 in June, would have been eligible for free agency after this season, which could have given top prospect Jeff Clement his chance in Seattle.
