Dear Friend:

For the past ten years I have been doing what I can for St Peter Mission School located on the Gila River Reservation. I've bartered speeches for repairs to the school and church. I've bartered for air condition units, buses and even made a deal for grass on a dirt field so the kids had a place to exercise to help solve our biggest problem which is diabetes.

St Peter Mission School has 216 youngsters but poverty is our biggest enemy. We benefit from the Child Nutrition Program of Arizona, it serves both breakfast and lunch to our children. Eighty five percent of the parents are below the poverty line with another 12% just barely above.

The school has no library and I feel that is wrong. A friend who used to service school buses would call me when a school discarded books. All we had were text books. One day my friend Ann Curry from the Today Show made an appearance but being part of the news division could not accept an honorarium but could designate a school to receive books. She designated. St Peter Mission School. We cleared out a room and that is our library. Right now 6 children are allowed to go in, get their books and leave. They sit outside and read. Will you help us?
