The Chicago Cubs demoted left-hander Rich Hill to Triple-A Iowa on Saturday, hours after he walked four batters and failed to survive the first inning. Manager Lou Piniella said Jon Lieber, who allowed five hits in 3 2-3 innings of scoreless relief in Friday night's 5-3, 11-inning loss to the Cardinals, would replace Hill in the rotation and start on Wednesday. Hill is 1-0 with a 4.12 ERA in five starts and has walked 18 in 19 2-3 innings.

Hill is 1-0 with a 4.12 ERA in five starts this season but has walked 18 in 19 2-3 innings. Both Hill and manager Lou Piniella expect he'll be back in the rotation soon.
