Golden Spikes Award Winners
The Golden Spikes Award is an honor handed out to the best College Baseball Player each year.
From the list of past winers, excellence at the College level does not always translate to excellence at the Major League Level.
When a player is drafted out of college, they tend to make the majors faster than a player drafted out of High School.
If they do not make the transition from the college game to the pro game, they can easily go from prospect to suspect, since they will most likely be in unestablished 25-30 year age range.
